Sawtooth Splendor Quilt Pattern

It's here! I'm so excited to introduce you to the Sawtooth Splendor pattern. Take your flying geese four-at-a-time to the next level with this pattern that comes in three sizes: baby (36" x 48"), throw (60" x 60"), and bed (84" x 84"). Sawtooth Splendor is perfect for the confident beginner. I'm also offering fabric kits in my store. If you want to make the cover quilt, each kit comes with enough fabric to make your top and binding.

Something I heard over and over from the pattern testers was how quickly the top goes together. I have to say I agree! Inside tip: I don't make the quilt until after I've designed it and written the pattern. I like to be sure the pattern works as I'm making my sample, and I procrastinated in putting this one together. Since it is so quick, I had plenty of time to baste, quilt, and bind it before its photo shoot. Whew!

I learned a lot from the Holland pattern, so I hope you have a great experience with this one. I worked really hard with my technical editor to make sure you use your fabric in the most efficient way and still have enough for an oops. The baby size has 12 squares, the throw has 25, and the bed size has 49. I thought this quilt was pretty stunning as I designed it, but the pattern testers really went above and beyond to show you what's possible with this pattern. Let's go!

Pattern Tester Versions

Baby Size

Ann from Crafty Moose Quilts used fat quarters for the star centers in this baby size quilt that's backed with Minky! Using a dark background was brilliant against the green.

Becky of Sweet B Quilts made two baby versions. I hope her friends and family know how lucky they're about to be! I think these just turned out so precious.

I love the denim blue for the background in this version from Jenny. I'm also super jealous of her field for photo shoots!

Kate is literally up to her Uggs with this fall-themed baby version. I like the color switching she did in the stars.

Kelli Anne was so fun to work with. She decided this pattern would be perfect for her Snoopy room. And Snoopy helped! Seriously, go to her Instagram and check out her stories. It was adorable, and we all loved getting updates from Snoopy along the way.

This starry night baby size from Melissa is so cute. And I absolutely love using the pop of yellow for the binding. So good!

Throw Size

Isabella flips the script by using florals for the background and more traditional background fabric for the stars. She also went scrappy for her stars, and it really adds a ton of depth.

Jessica added her own touch by using a different color for the star tips in the smaller blocks. We had a lot of dark backgrounds for this test, and I think I'm addicted to that look now. *thinks in quilt design*

We should all be so lucky as to have an amazing Victorian to take pictures in front of like Lynn! She went scrappy with everything, and I love the greens, yellows, and grays all together.

Grunge, much? Kim from Pearl and Cotton Quilting sure does! It's just so soothing to look at these colors and the pop of black in the star points.

Kristen went patriotic, and it's so charming. She also did some color switching, and I love the movement in her background fabric.

Nicole's pirate fabric is adorable in her star centers. I also like her red X, like "X marks the spot." Clever!

Fussy cutting is also possible with this pattern! I love Miranda's alligators and sea creatures.

Bed Size

Lindsay from Arrow Quilting tested Holland for me (you can see it in the background), and I was so excited when she agreed to test again. Her fabric choices are just so good! This is definitely a level of skill I aspire to. (Lindsay says she's also addicted to the darker backgrounds now.)

I could never be as brave as Deanne, but her mix of florals and stripes for this bed size is masterful. I love that there's something happening in every square inch of this quilt.

Theresa's version is the scrappiest of them all, and I hope she busted a ton of stash making this. I think the scrappiness brings this pattern toward the traditional, and I love that.
