Imagine never sending a quilt to a long-armer ever again!

Any quilter can quilt any quilt on any domestic sewing machine. I’ve done it myself and taught others to do it, too. If you want to start with free motion quilting on your machine, here's what you'll learn:

  • How to set up your sewing space to take care of your quilt and your body.
  • How notebook doodles are going the foundation of your FMQ routine.
  • How to practice like a pro that will have you stitching on a project in no time.
  • How to choose thread and troubleshoot tension issues.
  • Why my special four-inch rule makes it all possible.
  • How to find the right sewing machine speed for you.

At the end of the class, you are quilting. A real needle and thread into a real quilt sandwich. You've got this!

There's just one problem

You think I'm out of my ever-lovin' mind to even suggest this!

I've been teaching free motion quilting for years, and the vast majority of my students come to class with basic, entry-level sewing machines. Everyone who has applied what they learned in the lessons finishes with a gorgeous quilt they quilted themselves.

Here's the truth

I can have you quilting within an afternoon.

I’m going to teach you how to set up your space, troubleshoot tension issues, my proven methods for practicing new designs, and give you your first design lesson that has you quilting today. No fluff or fillers. Each lesson is quick and compact so you're learning, practicing, doing.

"This was exactly what I needed to take my quilts from zero to finished with a lot more variety and confidence."

Meet your teacher

Hi, I'm Joni

I've been quilting for over 20 years, and the only thing I love more than quilting is sharing what I've learned with you. Quilting is my favorite step in the process, and my courses teach you how to FMQ in quick and compact lessons. From getting your quilt ready to go under the needle to developing a quilting plan so you never approach your machine with doubt, I have a proven method of learning that ensures you can quilt your own quilts on your own machine.

But it wasn't always this way...

My entry into quilting was a disaster! I started with the ugliest fabrics and a cardboard cutting mat. I had no idea what I was doing, and it was the grace and patience of a mentor to get me through my first two quilts. By then I was hooked and tried to learn as much as I could about this craft I loved so much.

If I can start with this as a first quilt, surely you also have it in you to learn and master the art of quilting on your own machine. I'd be so honored if you let me be your guide on that journey.
